Photo-Etched Pins

All Star Pins' photo-etched lapel pins are made using a process similar
to our cloisonné pins, except the recessed areas are produced by etching
rather than by a die strike. Photo-etched pins begin with a die-cut
metal base to which a photographic negative masking is applied. The
areas on the metal pin base between the masked areas are etched away
leaving recessed areas with are imprinted with colored organic enamels.
The printed photo-etched pins are then heated to cure the enamel. The
pin is the polished and a clear protective coating is applied. |
